Yeah, I learned that during my marriage -- I could lose weight as long as I didn't eat with Jim, which was just another factor in the growing distance between us. Eating is a social act, even in these days when the family dinner is the exception rather than the rule.

Drinking is, too. All those years of being a Baha'i and not drinking affected my social life to a huge extent.

I understand the rebelliousness, even a little bit of resentment that food, as an issue, must take so much time and effort and thought. People give up diets out of sheer boredom -- who wants to spend so much time, thinking and planning to make sure you have the right food?

Finding a positive way through it all isn't easy, and most importantly, it isn't measured on the scale.Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15915968995957299554noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4021317.post-67010316490306123222015-01-01T14:02:43.988-08:002015-01-01T14:02:43.988-08:00Ah, been waiting for the Temptation post!

I guess it's not very kind of me to say this, but part of me is glad that Brad's finally getting old enough to realize that he's mortal and to be concerned about his health at least a little bit. Hopefully this will result in fewer food-related temptations in our life together. Because you're absolutely correct: sooner or later I will give in. My biggest issue is a little rebellious streak. Gosh darn it, nobody is going to tell me no...even myself. Finding ways to make my changes come from more from a place of "yes" than "no" seems to help.

Amber Gravittnoreply@blogger.com
